Don't Let Facebook Fool You!

This will be a shortened message. Got straight to the point with this one.

Social media is an evil liar. The people who use it, they are right behind the lies. We present the version of our lives that we want, not necessarily the one we have. For some reason, I had on my page that I spoke Shakespearean English. "Whether art thou" has never crossed thy lips once. We will take 75 pictures and look for the right one before putting it on Instagram. For some reason, we want to share our lives, but not the real one. We sometimes will go on these trips to other countries, and get some ocean in our backgrounds. We will travel to foreign lands and put on this front like this is our lives all of the time. I am not saying that there is nothing wrong with vacations. We all need one once in a while. You should not go into debt to keep up a lifestyle that is not real. Show the real you on the web. I want to see your credit card statement. I want to see your stress, your love, your real you.

Social media is an evil liar. It is now part of our daily lives. It is now part of background checks for jobs. Companies say that they don't look at your Facebook page. The second that you are done with interview, there is someone looking you up. There might be a friend that you don't know on there, and that friend is going through your friends list to see if you got some sketchy people. You are who you socialize with. If you got that friend who has a drink in every picture, bankroll spray or cigar smoke(or weed smoke) in every picture.....sweetie, the companies will judge you based off of those friends. You got some questionable photos with no privacy settings(which don't matter for government jobs), you will be judged and evaluated for it. It is like I said before, that lifestyle you present, people will think is really you. Careful what you present to the world.

On the other side, your online presence can be a good thing. Let's say you posted about your favorite charities or non-profit events that you attended. That could look great to potential bosses. We have to remain conscientious about how we motivate ourselves. Social media can help you avoid trouble and achieve higher levels of success through effective planning and persistence. This is because it never forgets. You can delete something, but the interest never really forgets. Someone will screenshot something and repost it on Twitter, or share on Tumblr. People who lack conscientiousness on social media will be seen as unrealiable, have no ambition, and many short-lived pleasures. You can tell by how many times they post those pictures with the fake smiles and their tourist lifestyle. The more vacation pics from different places, the more empty that life may seem. Remember, on social media, you are a commodity that puts things into it. Be careful about what you put in.

See ya laters, people!
